Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest continuously practiced healing systems in the world, dating back thousands of years in China, Japan and Korea.

Acupuncture is a treatment that nourishes and aids the body’s natural healing processes. Ancient Chinese texts describe channels of energy called meridians that flow throughout the body in regular patterns, a system just like the circulatory system or the nervous system. Flowing through these meridians is “qi,” life force energy. Good health depends on the smooth flow of qi in the body. When the flow of qi is blocked due to injury, poor diet, medication, stress, hereditary conditions, environmental factors or emotional issues, the system is disrupted. Illness and pain can then arise. By the insertion of sterile, hair-thin needles at specific points on the meridians acupuncture can support the balancing and free flow of qi. The treatment creates physiological changes in the body that lead to relief from a wide range of conditions ranging from acute and chronic physical pain to digestive, neurological and emotional conditions.

Adjunct therapies traditionally used with acupuncture such as cupping, moxibustion, and gua sha are used as well depending on the symptoms being experienced by the patient.

Acupuncture regulates and restores the harmonious energetic balance of the body, so problems occur less frequently and recovery is much quicker.
